Yoga in a hot room is yoga like it was intended to be: hot, humid, sweaty… just like in India! The heat will help limber you and you will be able to bend like never before. But don’t take our word for it, come see for yourself. You never need a reservation. So just pick the time that is right for you and come on in!
About this Studio
This is a place where you will meet other people like you. This is a place where you can wash away your worries in rivers of sweat. This is a place where you will be reminded that you create your destiny. We are dedicated to letting our best possible self shine through-both for ourselves and for the world. Hot Yoga Delaware has a safe, non-competitive, supportive atmosphere.
From the moment you walk in, you are part of the family. We have a large lobby/community area to meet and make friends before and after class. The 1200 sq. foot mirrored hot room has an advanced air purification system and humidity control. There are lockers, restrooms, showers, and changing areas for your convenience. Finally, we have recently added a small retail section where you can purchase yoga props, clothing, books, etc. (Let us know if there is a product you would like us to carry.)
How to Prepare
Drink lots of water throughout the day.
Dress in snug fitting, stretchy fabric… as little of it as you are comfortable in. Bulky, baggy, heavy clothing is not recommended.
Have clean bare feet.
Arrive with enough time to get your feet clean, use the loo, choose your spot and be ready to go by the scheduled start time.
Lastly, but not leastly we recommend that you do not eat a big burrito right before class. In fact, you’ll probably be better off with no large meals for 2-3 hours prior to practice. But neither do you want to come in completely depleted. Be sensible about your food intake, maybe have some fresh fruit/veggies or juice an hour or so before class.
About the Owners:
Our mission/philosophy can best be summed up by the Sanskrit chant:
LOKAH SAMASTA SUKINO BHAVANTU
which literally translates as “May all beings everywhere be happy and free and may the thoughts, words, and actions of my own life contribute in some way to that happiness and freedom for all.”
Two sisters are behind this venture, Lisa and Holli.
Holli began a meditation practice 15 years ago and has been teaching
yoga as a full time career since 2001. She has acquired a working
knowledge of yoga philosophy and been able to move these abstract
concepts into action in her own life. She has an understanding of
anatomy as it relates to asana practice and is well versed in many
pranayama techniques (breathing practices). Holli is a graduate of
the Yoga College of India, which requires over 500 hours of study.
She also holds an advanced certificates in Vinyasa Flow and Reiki.
For the last several years Holli has owned and operated a successful
Bikram Yoga school in Falls Church, VA.
She is excited about moving to the Small Wonder and looking forward to
being part of a studio that offers multiple HOT yoga styles.
Lisa is a mother of three and army wife. She is relatively new on the
yogic path (at least in this lifetime). In September of 2008, she completed the Yoga
Challenge "60 classes in 60 days" and has found life evolving at a
very rapid pace since then. Lisa brings a background of excellence in
the service industry and a highly developed intuition. Lisa's dream is to incorporate a wellness cafe into the studio.
